Static is a slang term used in the car community. Literally, it means ‘no movement,’ and within the automotive scene—especially the stance community—it refers to a vehicle’s suspension setup. There are two major ways to stance a car: static, meaning coilovers with as little suspension movement as possible, and bags (air ride), which allow adjustable height to clear obstacles. Over time, the term static has evolved to describe cars running coilovers that are among the lowest and stiffest setups in the world.

Refer to the previous FAQ for the meaning of static. Our brand name, Static Struggle, reflects that idea: choosing to stay low 24/7 with no option to raise the car like you can with air ride. In Japan, many believe there’s only one true way to lower a vehicle—static, using coilovers. We embrace the challenge, or as we call it, the struggle. Parts break, sparks fly, but for us, it’s a lifestyle.

#ForDom refers to Dominic Bianchini, our founder who passed away in 2019. After his passing, Owen Murphy along with friends and members continued Static Struggle in his honor. The brand has grown into more than just scraping cars—it has become a movement. #ForDom represents continuing the brand, the shows, and the travels for Dom. We also keep one of his builds alive and frequently showcased: his VR6 Cabrio.

Static Struggle began in 2014 as a club of about 20 friends. Although the brand has grown since then, we still consider new member requests and personally reach out to a few each year. If you think you have what it takes, reach out and share your build with us.

These are the titles of our car shows, usually followed by the location or track name. We’ve been hosting shows for over seven years across three different states. While not every attendee is static, the name helps keep our brand identity alive and adds to the fun.

Burgers n’ Burnies began in 2019, shortly after we lost Dominic. The event brings together two of Dom’s favorite things—burnouts and burgers. We host it annually to honor him in the way he would have loved.
